Forum is a great addition for any website. It is a good tool to attract visitors to your site. But, what exactly is a free web forum? Well, it is a platform to bring like-minded people together to discuss things and share their experiences.

There are many ways to attract visitors to your website. A free forum is the most suitable and effective tool to get people to visit your site and come back frequently. A forum hosting valuable communities and quality posts will make the users come back frequently to share their own experiences and gain knowledge. Incorporating a free forum on your site is not a simple task. It requires you to have a lot of time, patience and enthusiasm.

If you want to know more and create your own forum, you must visit MakeForum.

The basic things you need to consider while starting your own free forum are firstly, that it is pointless to add new forums in your site if you have no members and no posts. It will not work. It is like an empty hall where the silence can be deafening. You need to have members and you need to have quality content, too, to be successful. You will get more visitors if the quality of content is good. It is therefore a good idea to provide a feedback link to the visitors to hear what they have to say.

There are forums that offer special advertising options and other incentives to active members who frequent the forum. The options can be in the form of text links or banners. These members are prompted to start their own discussions chains to avail of the free advertising options. You also hold a lucky draw to pep up regular users.

Another way to make the best of free forums is to source content for your website forum. It helps to work together in a give-and-take relationship. For example, you take their content and post yours on their site. If you don’t mind dishing out some money, you can hold discussions and lure them with cash incentives. But, you will have to be extremely quality conscious. Make sure the visitors don’t copy from other forums and paste it in yours. It will get you a bad name.

If you do not have a huge budget or if you find that you cannot attract people to start discussion on your forum in anyway, the last option for you is to ‘clone’ yourself and start various threads of discussions yourself. Once you do this, the other visitors will get out of the ’somebody -needs-to start-a-discussion-first syndrome’.

Once it gets started, you can bow out quietly and let them take the discussion further. You can then let the community grow by itself. It is the initial warm-up that is the toughest part of building an online community. After doing that successfully, you can relax and see it grow and flourish. However, you may have to prod it at times.

By the hammer of Thor there’s a lot of blogging myths out there; myths that keep you from generating more online leads and building lasting relationships with clients.

The problem with these myths is that if they’re not challenged they turn into conventional wisdom. If you’ve been looking to drive more traffic to your Web site and improve communications with customers, you owe it to yourself to give a business blog a try.

Below are some of the hurdles–exaggerated or imagined–I’ve heard business owners use to avoid starting a blog, and real-world experience to debunk these myths.

1) My customers don’t read blogs. I hear this all too often by business owners who don’t completely understand what a blog is. Now, perhaps your customers don’t subscribe to any blogs, or they don’t return daily to a favorite blog. However, if they use Google or Yahoo for search, chances are they stumbled upon a search result from a blog. Since blogs often rank high at the search engines, if your customers use the Internet, you can capture their attention with a blog.

2) Blogging is for teenagers to share the minutiae of their lives and what they think of the remaining American Idol contestants. While teens certainly took to blogging quicker than businesses, these days companies of all sizes and shapes have realized the benefits of a business blog. You wouldn’t dismiss the telephone as a communication device just because your teenager spends hours each night on it, would you?

3) Blogging is just a fad/This too will pass. Didn’t you say the same thing about the Internet back in 1997? Of course no one can predict the future and much of the hype about blogs is just that. However, it’s important to realize that blogs are a powerful, easy-to-use communication tool, and communicating with customers and prospects will never go out of style.

Besides, blogs are an effective marketing tool today, so don’t worry if in five years you’ve moved on to your next communication medium. If you’ve cultivated an active audience, they’ll follow you to other distribution channels.

4) Blogging takes up too much time. I run a growing business, sit on the board of MEBSR (Maine Businesses for Social Responsibility), participate in a business-owners group, do a lot of writing and speaking, and carry my share in raising our two daughters. Trust me, I know from being busy.

However, in the past two-and-a-half years of blogging, I’ve discovered that it’s probably the most effective use of my marketing time. Blogging helps establish your expertise, generates loads of search engine leads, and delivers your message through three distribution channels each time you write. (Read more on the three faces of blogs.)

As business owners we have limited time in the day to market our services; blogging provides great return on that investment.

5) Blogging is fraught with dangers, like people leaving negative comments. These days, consumers can vent their frustration with your product or service anywhere on the Web, whether it’s a post at their own blog, a review at Epinions.com, or a scathing YouTube video. If I had my choice, I’d rather have that conversation happen where I have home court advantage. How you handle negative feedback can establish your authenticity, and help you win over new converts.

And, if you happen to find yourself with a PR nightmare, you don’t have to worry about letting the media tell your side of the story. By using your own blog you have unfettered access to anyone with a connection to the Internet.

People are looking for transparency and authenticity from companies these days, and your blog is the perfect tool to match these needs.

6) My customers don’t read blogs. Whoa. Feelings of deja vu. Didn’t we respond to this earlier? Oh, you mean that you don’t get leads from the Internet? That they only use the Yellow Pages or go on advice from a friend? Well, then your audience is shrinking. The average consumer is much more likely to use the Web to search for a product or service, or at least visit your Web site to learn more about your company.

If you haven’t gone after this audience before, you’re missing an opportunity of getting in front of a younger audience…your customers and clients of tomorrow.

And trust me, they read blogs.

The truth about blogging is that it’s proven an effective marketing tool for a wide range of businesses. You can start a blog on your own through a service like TypePad or by installing a blogging platform like WordPress on your own server. Alternatively, you can hire a Web design firm to design, develop and promote your blog and get you up to speed quickly.

Whatever path is right for you, don’t let these myths keep you from giving business blogging a chance.

Article directories are no secret. If you’ve made it to this marketing blog then they are nothing new but good directories are hard to find!

In my search for “article directories” in the article directories (that is not a repeat or a typo) I came up short on what were some of the easiest sites to use.

With much research I’d like to give you a list of article banks and directories that I found were easy to submit and search for articles to use for your online business:

Ezine Articles – EA has got to be one of the easiest and most popular sites as far as submitting and finding quality web content. The site is well organized and the HTML editor and submitting features are non confusing to say the least. Ezine Articles literally has thousands of articles on any topic. There is also a nifty badge as an Ezine Article Expert to put on your site as a part of your online marketing tools.

Go Articles – Writing online articles was never as simple as GoArticles.com! They too have a comprehensive stash of articles for website marketing as well as easy article submission.

The only difficulty I found with the site is trying to find other articles by the same authors. There are seperate hyper-links for both the first and last name so you need to search for the authors articles on your own.

The other drawback is if you look at too many articles in a short amount of type you will be mistaken for an article submitting software program and have to type code into a text box to prove your not a bot. Conduct your research carefully to avoid this!

On a good note a nice feature Go Articles offers is the option to have multiple articles sent to your e-mail inbox. Very convenient!

Article Express - Relatively new I found this article directory on one of the many article directory searches I been conducting. Again I am not repeating myself or keyword stuffing…

AE (not to be confused with EA – Ezine Articles) seemed easy enough to use for submission. The HTML editor was pretty straight forward but lacked the little buttons at the top so you have have to manually key in tags yourself within your articles.

Search Warp – The best part about this article directory is you can also submit your web site url and they will add it to the major search engines! Seartch Warp is a little pickier about their online article submissions but that makes for better web content for you to use.

This information should provide you with a good start on researching articles and submitting your online marketing articles to some of the better directories.

Please share your thoughts on article submission sites, article site links or submit your article directory to us for review.

There are many ways to use article marketing to increase traffic to your blog and thereby increasing the possibilities of more sales including promoting your own products, good affiliate marketing results and even generating more Adsense clicks on your blog.

Placing your articles in popular article directories will give you the opportunity to direct traffic to your blog using your author’s bio to link to your site.

Writing insightful, quality content gives you a better chance of having someone reprint your article on their site with your link in the bio. Others may like your article so much they will send it to their list and overnight you could receive a lot of traffic and make a lot of sales.

One thing you want to be sure to do is have the content on your blog related to the article you are having published. The search engines will frown upon having a blog about dogs linked to an article about cows and they will not want to send you any traffic. Also, the people reading your article will expect your blog to be about what your article is concerning. If you disappoint them, they will not be back.

Using the same search engine optimization on your blog as you would use on a web site will ensure that you will have a steady flow of traffic visiting your blog.

You need to continually have your articles published in the article directories to keep your place in the search engines. One article might bring you a burst of traffic but you will want to keep the momentum up. Even one article per week should help maintain a good amount of traffic.

Get started on your article marketing now by writing compelling, useful articles and you will start to see your stats climbing.

For more tips and information on blogging visit Marilyn Robert’s site at Blogging Strategies to start an exciting future with blogging.

Writing internet marketing articles and articles for money can be tricky business for some writers. Even articles written by so called experts can be misleading. Intentions are good from both parties but some still miss the mark.

Here are some of the best ways to go about writing for the web. The idea is to set yourself apart by remaining competitive and being high ranked online.

Keywords are the Key
You need to make a list of, and I hate to sound cliché but, relevant keywords. Start out by making a list of ten or 15 keywords and test them out for ranking. Choose the keywords that best suite your topic and build your article around those key phrases. Thorough keyword research will make it easier for search engines to find your articles online.

Titles Go Here
Obviously you need to pick a topic but you cannot go on topic alone. The best way to start your article is to use keywords that are pertinent to the article.

Examples of good keyword tips:

Dog Training: Tips and Tricks for Fido

Dog Food: Rewards that Make Sit Happen

A not so good example:

How to Train Your Dog in 6 Easy Steps

10 Tips in 10 Days to Training Your Dog

Your titles should include keywords in the first 5 words. Phrases like “How to market a business” and numbers are too general and not specific enough to keep up with demand keywords.

Sub-Headers
Sub-headers are titles too and should not be passed up to enter a high ranked keyword.

Sentence Structure
When we talk about sentence structure we are talking about structure online. Your first and last sentences in a paragraph should include your keywords that are important to the article. You can count the subtitles as the first portion of a paragraph but make sure that the last sentence of your article has keywords that are associated with the article.

Internet Links
Sometimes Internet links work better than keywords since search engines love links. Your online article will be that much easier to find while providing outside information to your readers. The trick here is to have an outside to a landing page on your site or another site that has high ranks and keyword density that compliment your online article.

Resource Box
Be sure to ad any links that pertain to your web page or any resource books you may be selling or writing in your resource box.

Your resource box is the “about the author” portion of who wrote the article. Keywords are a must here so don’t forget a link or two and end your online article with relevant knowledge of your subject.
